Step 1

The Challenge

In July 2022, WEVENTURE took over SEO management for Schleiferlwerk.de. At that time, the website was experiencing severe visibility issues.

0.001 – virtually no visibility in search engines, indicating weak SEO optimization and missing technical measures.

Important keywords

Only 58 keywords in the top 10 and 451 in the top 100. Crucial keywords for the site’s success — such as “Schnittmuster Kinder” (children’s sewing patterns), “Babymütze nähen” (sewing a baby hat), and “Schnittmuster Mädchenkleid” (girl’s dress pattern) — were dominated by major competitors like makerist.de and pattydoo.de.

Ranking

Only 31 individual pages ranked in the top 10 and just 62 pages in the top 100.

Traffic

Visitor numbers were correspondingly low, negatively impacting revenue.

Step 2

Our Approach

After conducting an extensive SEO audit, we quickly developed a comprehensive and detailed strategy to address the website’s severe visibility issues as efficiently as possible and sustainably increase traffic. In addition to technical SEO, we focused heavily on content improvements for category and product pages. Technical measures were implemented directly in the CMS, while text proposals were created in close collaboration with Schleiferlwerk and then implemented by our team.

Technical SEO optimization

  • Identification and resolution of 404 error pages: set up 301 redirects, eliminate “dead links,” strengthen internal linking
  • Page speed optimization: reduce unnecessary plugins, compress images, implement caching
    robots.txt and meta tags: ensure all important pages are correctly indexed
  • Structured data and enhanced snippets: make the site easier for Google and others to understand through structured data, especially to help product detail pages rank in the “Products” tab and appear with rich snippets
  • Backlink analysis and optimization: resolve harmful links, build authoritative and relevant backlinks

Content optimization

  • Optimize category and product pages: We enriched these pages with more detailed and relevant content, which was crucial for improving rankings for keywords like “Schnittmuster Kinder” and “Babymütze nähen.”
  • Restructure product detail pages (PDPs): We revised text structures, added alt tags to images, and ensured each page contained sufficient product information.
  • Keyword analysis: Which search terms are most relevant for Schleiferlwerk? “Schnittmuster Mädchenkleid,” “Babymütze nähen,” and “Papierschnittmuster” are in high demand within the niche — and formed the basis of our strategy.

  • SEO is a long-term process: Our work began in July 2022, and while early results appeared quickly, the strongest outcomes materialized after more than a year — once the foundation for sustainable SEO success had been built over many months. Patience is essential and is now paying off for Schleiferlwerk many times over.
  • Content is king: And will remain so. Our content improvements on category pages and PDPs led to significant results, especially when combined with technical SEO measures.
  • Continuous optimization: The project also highlighted the importance of consistently working on the website and responding early to changes in search engine algorithms.
